2 ounces medium malt scotch like Glenlivet
1/2 ounce Velvet Falernum
1 piece of fresh ginger, about the size of a quarter
1 lemon wedge
In the rocks glass that will be the serving glass muddle the piece of ginger and the Velvet Falernum. Be careful not to shred the ginger bruise it to release the flavor but leave it whole it will remain in the glass. Add the scotch and ice. Garnish by squeezing the lemon wedge into the drink and then dropping it in the glass.
"It seems like lime would be the obvious choice for the garnish but the drink is bitter when lime juice is squeezed in and wonderful when lemon juice is squeezed in." - Dale DeGroff
"[This is] a new wonderful scotch drink inspired by the older recipe [for the Debonair Cocktail] from Gary & Mardee Regan." Dale DeGroff, creator, 2003.
