The Full Monte
"I created this one when I was working with Waldy Malouf at Beacon Restaurant. We were working on a fun pre-theatre promotion together, and we wanted to offer the guest a pre-fixe which included a complimentary cocktail. I created 3 cocktails for 3 different Broadway shows. This one is a goofy take-off on the LI iced tea, but it's still kinda fun. The addition of maraschino, bitters, and champagne somehow legitimize it. I thought the name appropriate, considering all the ingredients." - Audrey Saunders, 2002.
- The Full Monte
- 1/4 ounce vodka
- 1/4 ounce gin
- 1/4 ounce rum
- 1/4 ounce tequila
- 1/4 ounce maraschino liqueur
- 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- champagne
- 1 stemless maraschino cherry pierced--speartip not protruding from the cherry--on a spear, dropped inside the glass, for a "phallic" effect, for garnish
- Shake all of the ingredients except for the champagne, and strain into a champagne flute. Top with champagne.
