Painter’s, in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY (http://www.painters-restaurant.com), held a benefit for New Orleans on September 7, 2005.

A total of $1,188 was raised from the sales of specialty cocktails, and the tip cup.

The money has been donated to a special fund organized by The Museum of the American Cocktail (http://www.museumoftheamericancocktail.org) to benefit New Orleans food and beverage industry workers

Toby Maloney, head bartender at New York City’s Pegu Club, generously donated his time and tip cup to help Gary behind the stick. And it’s a good job he did! We were inundated. Thanks Toby!

Many thanks to Sal and Pete Buttiglierri, owners of Painter’s, and the good folk of Cornwall-on-Hudson who turned out for the event (and those who couldn’t make it but left money behind the bar anyway), for their generosity.

And a very special thanks to Jeffrey Hebert for driving down from Albany. It was really great to see you again, General Jeff. And to LeNell Smothers and Benjamin Peikas for driving all the way from Brooklyn to attend the event. I sure was swell to meet you guys.

Please remember to drink safely and responsibly.
